CARNIVAL #0180 – SOU AZUL|Spring Funfest Japan 2026@Hamanako Day 1 Carnival

Overview

Spring Fun Fest 2026 was a Brazilian cultural event held in Kosai City, Shizuoka Prefecture. With the cooperation of Kosai City, Hamamatsu City, and BOAT RACE Hamanako, it was held for the first time in Japan in conjunction with a boat race day.

On the first day, themed "Carnival," a Brazilian team active in Hamamatsu City and Japanese samba teams gathered from all over Japan formed a one-day-only joint group called "BLOCO MUNDIAL." They created a participatory carnival where nationality and affiliation were transcended, and the entire venue became one as people danced together.

SOU AZUL's Involvement

SOU AZUL was responsible for the concept design, casting, direction, and production of the two-day carnival section.

Under the theme of "Enjoying the same rhythm across borders," we aimed to create a space where Japanese and Brazilians naturally mingled, and both performers and visitors could enjoy themselves together.

We also coordinated with multiple performing groups and stakeholders to realize a stage where members with diverse backgrounds came together as one.

What was born from this event

Not only was Brazilian culture introduced, but a space was created where Japanese and Brazilians could naturally dance and interact in the same space.

Performers created a stage as one team while respecting each other's cultures, and as this was conveyed to the visitors, a warm sense of unity spread throughout the venue.

It became a time of natural connection between multiple cultures, not just as an "event to watch," but as an "event to participate in and enjoy together."
