CARNIVAL #0184 – SOU AZUL | BOAT RACE ALL STARS Opening Performance

Overview

The BOAT RACE ALL STARS Opening Performance was the opening program for a large-scale event held at BOAT RACE Hamana Lake in Hamamatsu City, Shizuoka Prefecture.

In a venue filled with approximately 1,000 BOAT RACE fans, we created a memorable kickoff for the event with a dazzling samba performance.

Following the opening act, a joint samba show was performed by Brazilian dancers based in Hamamatsu City and Japanese dancers active mainly in Tokyo, creating a stage where diverse cultures merged.

SOU AZUL's Involvement

SOU AZUL was responsible for the planning, direction, and performance production for this project.

We designed a performance that leveraged the appeal of samba and Afro-Brazilian culture, tailored to the event's objectives and venue atmosphere, realizing an opening that naturally drew in attendees.

Furthermore, we held numerous meetings with the BOAT RACE Enterprise Group and event management companies, utilizing remote online meetings as well, to coordinate with performers and stakeholders and manage the progress.

What was born from this event

Through music and physical expression, the distance between the audience and performers naturally narrowed, creating a sense of unity throughout the venue.

Hamamatsu City is home to one of the largest Brazilian communities in Japan, but opportunities for cultural exchange in daily life are not abundant.

On this stage, the Brazilian group "Brasilidade" active in Hamamatsu City and "SOU AZUL" active mainly in Tokyo created a shared cultural experience and a time to enjoy together.
