The 9-session course "Enjoy! Samba ~Learn and Dance for Double the Fun Fight~" has concluded.

The 9-session course "Enjoy! Samba ~Learn and Dance for Double the Fun Fight~" held at Funabashi Central Community Center has successfully concluded amidst great popularity from many of you.

Background

The goal of this course was not just to memorize choreography and dance.

It was about learning the background of samba and Brazilian culture, experiencing the rhythms, and connecting with other participants while moving our bodies.

We created a space where even those experiencing samba for the first time could participate and enjoy themselves at their own pace.

Participants ranged widely from their 30s to 70s, with diverse experiences and ways of moving their bodies. Nevertheless, as the sessions progressed, not only their movements but also their expressions and the atmosphere of the venue gradually changed.

All 9 Sessions Learned, Danced, and Created Together

The course combined lectures on the history and cultural background of samba with practical rhythm and dance sessions.

We emphasized not just dancing correctly, but listening to the music, synchronizing with those around you, and enjoying the moment together.

In the post-course survey, all 9 respondents answered "somewhat satisfied" or higher. Among them, 5 gave a "very satisfied" rating.

Furthermore, 8 people responded that they "achieved their participation goals," and 8 responded that the instructor's explanations were "very easy to understand."

We received comments from participants such as:

"I danced for the first time in a while. It was so much fun, I looked forward to the class."

"Learning about the history and background increased my interest in samba."

"It was very interesting to hear not only about the dance but also about the history of samba and the actual situation in Brazil."

"I think I've improved a little since the beginning."

We received comments like these.

By learning dance, rhythm, and culture together, I believe this course has made samba feel deeper and more familiar.

The final session, with local friends

For the final session, "Estrangeiros Dance Club," active in Urayasu, and "Bloco Funabashi," active in Funabashi, also joined us.

First, a performance by the participants of the 9-session course.

続いて、エストランジェイロスダンス部によるミニショーと、サンバダンスのデモンストレーションを行いました。

そして最後は、ブロッコふなばしによるパゴージ。

歌や演奏を囲みながら、出演者、受講生、会場の皆さんが一緒にサンバを楽しみました。

講座で学んできた人、地域でサンバを続けている人、それぞれの場所で活動する人たちがひとつの場に集まり、最終回そのものが、みんなでつくる小さなカーニバルとなりました。

まだ一緒に踊っていたい、もう少しこの時間が続いてほしい。

そんな名残惜しい空気に包まれながら、全9回の講座は終了しました。

船橋にまかれたサンバの種

アンケートでは、回答者全員から「公民館でサンバの事業があれば参加したい」という声が寄せられました。

さらに、

• サークルなどでサンバを続けたい
• サンバのイベントがあれば参加したい
• 船橋にサンバチームができて、参加する市民や応援する市民が増えてほしい

という、これからにつながる声も届いています。

今回の講座だけで、すぐに大きな何かが完成したわけではありません。

けれど、参加者の皆さんの中に「また踊りたい」「もっと知りたい」「船橋で続けたい」というサンバの種が、確かにまかれました。

これからは、地域で活動するブロッコふなばしがその種を耕し、船橋の地にきれいな花を咲かせていくことでしょう。

講座が終わっても、ここで生まれたつながりとサンバは続いていきます。

Future Development

9月には、別の講師によるサンバワークショップが引き続き開催されます。

また、11月18日（水）の日中には、船橋浜町公民館にて、サンバの文化講座・リズム・ダンスを組み合わせた単発ワークショップを担当させていただきます。

今回参加できなかった方も、サンバを初めて体験する方も、お近くの方はぜひご参加ください。
