The Samba Parade in Hachioji, Long Wished For, Finally Realized

On July 26, 2026, a samba parade by Amaz Samba was held at the "Nakamachi Bon Dance Festival" on Hachioji Station's West Radiation Euro Road.

Approximately 25 dancers, approximately 15 bateria members, Cinema Club Amaz Samba!

This was Amaz Samba's first full-scale samba parade in the city of Hachioji.

Samba in Hachioji. Feelings Cultivated Over Many Years

Amaz Samba, based in Hachioji City, Tokyo, has continued to perform samba shows, offer lessons, and participate in community events.

Throughout their activities, they harbored a persistent dream.

"We want to hold a samba parade in Hachioji someday."

Not just to perform, but to walk through the streets of Hachioji, where they are active, together with everyone to the rhythm of samba.

While holding onto this wish for many years, they participated in local festivals and events, gradually building connections with the community.

And in 2026, their wish finally received the "go" sign.

Students and Local Children. A Parade Created Together

For this parade, not only Amaz Samba members but also students who regularly attend lessons, local children, and friends who came to offer support participated.

Furthermore, preparations were made together with the members of the Nakamachi Shopping Association, and the community and the team joined forces to create this day's samba parade.

As the sounds of samba began to echo on the West Radiation Euro Road, the spectators along the route naturally swayed their bodies and enjoyed the parade.

Some people even followed the parade as it moved along, turning it into a time where it felt like everyone present was moving forward together, not just the performers.

Sudden Heavy Rain. Yet, the Enthusiasm Remained

Midway through the parade, a sudden heavy downpour occurred, and unfortunately, it had to be canceled partway through.

Nevertheless, many people were able to see the samba at the Bon Dance Festival venue, and a strong sense of excitement was generated even in that short time.

Despite the rain, it was the first samba parade ever born in the streets of Hachioji.

After it ended,

「来年もぜひ」

という声もいただきました。

何年も思い描いてきたパレードは、今回がゴールではなく、ここから始まっていきます。

八王子に、サンバパレードを根付かせていく

地元で活動し、地域との関係を少しずつ積み重ね、その先にようやく実現した今回のパレード。

生徒さん、子どもたち、仲間たち、商店会の皆さん、そして沿道で一緒に楽しんでくださった皆さん。

さまざまな人が関わったからこそ生まれた、八王子ならではのカーニバルとなりました。

アミーズ・サンバは、これからも八王子でサンバを広げ、街の人たちと一緒に楽しめるパレードを育てていきます。

来年、そしてその先へ。

八王子の夏にサンバパレードが当たり前にある未来を目指して、この一歩は続いていきます。
